In search of the origins of mast cells

The team of Dr Marc BAJENOFF, CNRS researcher at the Centre d’Immunologie de Marseille-Luminy, CNRS, Inserm and Aix-Marseille University (AMU), in collaboration with the Singapore Immunology Network, has demonstrated that mast cells, key cells of the immune system, are not all generated in the bone marrow contrary to what has been established so far. Scientists have identified mast cells of embryonic origin in mice that probably have different functions than mast cells in adults. This study is published in Immunity this June 2018.

Sebastien Mailfert won first Zeiss prize image competition

Sébastien MAILFERT, CNRS Research Engineer, co-technical manager of the ImagImm platform at the Centre d'Immunologie de Marseille-Luminy, won first prize in the ZEISS image competition. His prize, a primo Star, HAL6V, 30W with Khoeler Fix and Plan-Achromat 4x, 10x, 40x and 100x oil lenses, was awarded on 15 March 2018 at CIML. This competition was dedicated to AiryScan confocal imaging with a view to creating a 2018 zeiss calendar. Images by Roxane Fabre and Noushine Mossadegh-Keller, CNRS engineers at the CIML, are also present in this calendar.
