The team of Dr Marc BAJENOFF, CNRS researcher at the Centre d’Immunologie de Marseille-Luminy, CNRS, Inserm and Aix-Marseille University (AMU), in collaboration with the Singapore Immunology Network, has demonstrated that mast cells, key cells of the immune system, are not all generated in the bone marrow contrary to what has been established so far. Scientists have identified mast cells of embryonic origin in mice that probably have different functions than mast cells in adults. This study is published in Immunity this June 2018.
