Marc Bajenoff laureate "Chaires d'Excellence Biologie/Santé"
Marc Bajenoff, team leader at the CIML, focusing on the immunobiology of stromal cells, is among the 22 distinguished researchers awarded Excellence Chairs in Biology/Health France 2030 by the Ministry of Education and Research.
Through this initiative and "Plan Innovation Santé 2030", the government aims to further highlight the French health research, both in terms of its excellence and its attractive deployment conditions throughout the country. Marc Bajenoff's NICHE project aims to study the complex relationships between immune cells and their microenvironments, offering insights into tissue balance and potential treatments for diseases involving macrophage dysfunction.
Inserm Junior Professor Chair
A Junior Professor Chair, a new way of recruiting on the basis of research and teaching projects, has been opened in Sophie Ugolini's team "The neuronal regulation of immunity".
Team Sophie UGOLINI
"The neuronal regulation of immunity".
Réjane Rua joins the EMBO Young Investigator program
26 scientists have been selected to join the EMBO Young Investigator Programme, an initiative that supports excellent young group leaders in the early stages of their independent careers.Among them, Réjane RUA, Inserm researcher and team leader at the Centre d'Immunologie de Marseille-Luminy "Immunosurveillance of the central nervous system"
Sophie Ugolini, winner of the Impulscience® program of the Bettencourt Schueller Foundation
The Impulscience® program aims to reward and support outstanding researchers in France. This program supports researchers to improve our knowledge of living organisms and ultimately human health.
Sophie Ugolini, researcher in Immunology, research director at Inserm and head of the "Neuronal regulation of immunity" team at the Marseille-Luminy Immunology Center (CIML), is a winner of the 2023 program for her work on the interactions between the nervous system and the immune system.
Her team is seeking to understand the mechanisms by which the nervous system and the immune system work together to repair tissue damage, particularly in the skin, and to defend against infections.

News
At the crossroads of biology and medicine, immunology is a scientific discipline that focuses on the operating mechanisms of the immune system. Appeared early in the evolution, this system enables living organisms to defend themselves against pathogens or their own components when they are altered. It involves a large number of cells whose capacity for cooperation, recognition and memory are far from having revealed all their secrets.
