2016, the Year of Immunology reaches its end. As the 50th anniversary meeting of the Société Française d’Immunologie (SFI) was just celebrated in Paris, the Centre d’Immunologie de Marseille Luminy (CIML) comes back on its 40-year anniversary, celebrated in September.

24 of the world leading immunologists met in September in Marseille on this occasion during three days of conferences to discuss all facets of the immunological revolution and its new  therapeutic perspectives offered to clinicians and their patients.

A large part of these conferences can be viewed at  https://vimeo.com/channels/ciml40

All these conferences took place in the amphitheater of CIML and were broadcasted simultaneously to 10 different halls in Paris, Marseille, Lyon, Toulouse, Nice and Rennes, allowing more than 500 people to participate to the Marseille stage of the Year of Immunology.

A special tribute has been paid to two researchers who founded the CIML and contributed to the advent of the famous "French School of Immunology": Professor Michel Fougereau, and Professor François Kourilsky, unfortunately deceased in 2014.

Eric Vivier, Director of the CIML said: “The celebration of our anniversary was a huge success and a great time for our team. We would first like to thank our parent organizations - CNRS, Inserm, Aix-Marseille Université - and the former Directors of the Center who join us, as well as  our suports and partners: the Marseille Immunopôle cluster, Grand Luminy, the three spinoffs of CIML -  Immunotech (which has become Beckman Coulter), Innate Pharma and HalioDx (formerly Ipsogen) - and long-standing business partners like BD and Myltenyi Biotech, and finally, three global health leaders, leading actors in immunotherapy, Bristol Myers-Squibb, MSD and Sanofi. For this anniversary, CIML has also received the support of the Bouches-du-Rhône Departmental Council and the city of Marseille.” He added: “Without all these supporters, we could not have made this anniversary an event of such magnitude.  We thank them warmly.
