EMBO workshop "Tissue resident Immune cells in Health and diseases"

Marseille, March, 18-23, 2024

image 116

This workshop will provide an up-to-date overview of recent discoveries concerning the ontogeny, functions and positioning of tissue-resident immune cells. It brings together leading experts of all career stages, who cover a wide range of lineages, organs and biological contexts, making this a unique opportunity for those interested in tissue immunity beyond individual aspects.

Réjane Rua joins the EMBO Young Investigator program

image 113

26 scientists have been selected to join the EMBO Young Investigator Programme, an initiative that supports excellent young group leaders in the early stages of their independent careers.Among them, Réjane RUA, Inserm researcher and team leader at the Centre d'Immunologie de Marseille-Luminy "Immunosurveillance of the central nervous system"

Sophie Ugolini, winner of the Impulscience® program of the Bettencourt Schueller Foundation

The Impulscience® program aims to reward and support outstanding researchers in France. This program supports researchers to improve our knowledge of living organisms and ultimately human health.

Sophie Ugolini, researcher in Immunology, research director at Inserm and head of the "Neuronal regulation of immunity" team at the Marseille-Luminy Immunology Center (CIML), is a winner of the 2023 program for her work on the interactions between the nervous system and the immune system.
Her team is seeking to understand the mechanisms by which the nervous system and the immune system work together to repair tissue damage, particularly in the skin, and to defend against infections.

Eric Vivier and Bernard Malissen, among the highest cited researchers in the world

Eric VIVIER and Bernard MALISSEN, team leaders at the Marseille-Luminy Immunology Center, are on the 2023 list of the most cited researchers in the world for the eighth time, as in previous editions 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022.
Published annually by the prestigious Clarivate Analytics Company, previously Thomson Reuters, this ranking recognizes authors of the most frequently cited publications in the scientific community.
A recognition mark that rewards the value of their discoveries and the exceptional research influence in their scientific field.

The CIML is proud to announce the selection of two new team leaders

The CIML is proud to announce the selection of two new team leaders through our recent competitive international call: Romain Roncagalli and Thomas Dupic.

Romain Roncagalli is Research Director at CNRS, currently working in the team of Bernard and Marie Malissen at CIML. He is an internationally recognized expert in the study of TCR signaling through quantitative proteomic approaches. He will lead the “Integrative biology of T cells” laboratory.

ERC Synergy Grant 2023 for Immunotherapy of liver metastases

The CIML is proud to announce that Prof. Eric Vivier is one of the recipients of the highly competitive and generously funded Synergy Grant from the European Research Council (ERC)

Together with Valeria Fumagalli (San Raffaele Hospital, Italy), Georg Gasteiger (Max Planck Research Group at the University of Würzburg), Florent Ginhoux (Gustave Roussy Cancer Campus, France), they will explore new avenues for immunotherapy of liver metastases – a condition that affects approximately half of all cancer patients.
This ERC Synergy Grant is the fourth European Research Council grant won by Prof. Eric Vivier's team. They had already won two ERC Advanced Grants in 2010 and 2015, as well as an ERC Proof of Concept in 2019.

What is Immunology

At the crossroads of biology and medicine, immunology is a scientific discipline that focuses on the operating mechanisms of the immune system. Appeared early in the evolution, this system enables living organisms to defend themselves against pathogens or their own components when they are altered. It involves a large number of cells whose capacity for cooperation, recognition and memory are far from having revealed all their secrets.
